Therapist for Postpartum Depression

Image
Postpartum depression (PPD) , “postpartum” meaning “after pregnancy,” is a serious mental health concern that most often affects mothers within the first year after the baby’s birth. Though it most often affects the parent who has given birth, it can affect any new parent. PPD is common: Between 10% and 20% of new mothers experience it. This mental health concern is one of a group of mood issues that occur around the time of childbirth. This group is referred to as perinatal mood disorders. Other mood issues included in this group include postpartum anxiety, postpartum psychosis, and antenatal depression, or depression during pregnancy. It’s normal to feel fatigued, stressed, or anxious after having a child. It’s also common to worry about being a good parent or making the right choices for the baby and the family. New parents often experience tearfulness, a low mood, fatigue, and other symptoms for two or three weeks after childbirth. But if feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or exces

Tapping

Image
TAPPING or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)   Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or Tapping, is a powerful modality used as part of the Anxiety Release Protocol (ARP). It is a simple and effective way to lower both adrenaline and cortisol in your body thus relieving you of the symptoms associated with anxiety and panic attacks. What is the Science? Tapping integrates Western medicine’s newfound understanding of neurological development and patterning, with Eastern medicine’s understanding of energy and the meridians in the body by which this energy travels.  Western medical studies have shown how Tapping can reduce the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol in your body.  (Quite simply we can measure cortisol in saliva, and when we measured cortisol levels in those who had Tapped, they had reduced, often considerably!) When your cortisol reduces you experience a lowered feeling of stress including reducing or even eliminating those symptoms like a racing heart, sweaty or tingly hand

Therapy for Gratitude

Image
To put it simply: gratitude is an emotion expressing appreciation for what you have - as opposed to a consumer-driven emphasis on what you want. The therapy is the act of thoughtfully reflecting on the aspects of life that bring great joy, causing feelings of gratefulness, rather than the insatiable longing of what’s just out of reach. By practicing awareness of the positive things in life, we fight off the brain’s natural tendency to scan for and spot the negatives.  Research in positive psychology indicates that those who practice gratitude have lower self-reported levels of depression and stress , and they're more satisfied with their social relationships. Studies also show that daily gratitude can improve sleep, increases energy levels and can decrease blood pressure. https://theanxiety.clinic/

Grief & Loss During COVID-19

Image
The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing many of us to change the way we go about our daily lives. With those changes, some of us are experiencing a wave of losses: economic, social, physical and emotional. For some, these losses may build up and lead to feelings of grief. Why is it important to accept and allow these feelings? Only by acknowledging the grief we’re going through can we take steps to heal.  It may come as a surprise to realize that grief can be a reaction to events other than death. Such emotional reactions may include shock, numbness, denial, anger, fear, anxiety, panic and guilt as individuals learn to live with loss. COVID-19 has brought dramatic changes to our lives, including many losses, such as: Economic security:  The pandemic has resulted in large unemployment numbers, a fear of further job loss and an economic recession. Health:  Fears of contracting COVID-19 have led to increased health risks for the most vulnerable. Of particular note is secondary harm for people w

Best Psychotherapy for Stress

Image
There are many things in life that can cause stress, including   work , relationships, family issues and financial problems. For some people, stress causes them to adopt unhealthy coping methods such as smoking or drinking - and while this may feel like a quick fix, ultimately these are covering the issue. Recognising what causes you stress and learning how to manage these feelings effectively, ultimately, is the healthiest and most effective way to feel good and live a happy life. One recommendation commonly offered by doctors is counselling and psychotherapy . Talking with a professional about the difficulties you're experiencing can help you understand any underlying issues that may be causing your stress .Working with your counsellor, you will then be able to identify your personal stress triggers and discuss ways of coping with them. https://theanxiety.clinic/groups/

Counselling for Trauma

Psychological trauma usually occurs after a particularly distressing event or a series of enduring events. The result of this can lead you to feel totally overwhelmed and unable to cope. These events are typically so far outside what we expect and what we believe that our reactions can seem somewhat unusual or even disturbing. Reactions like this are normal though and should be expected after trauma. Ready to move past your trauma and live the life you deserve? Talk Therapy in Canada

Counselling for Teens

Image
Working with teens has its own unique set of challenges and often times as providers we’re relegated to positions of listener, mentor, and guide, regardless of whether or not we’re actual therapists or counselors. I have known many teachers who build authentic relationships with their students and in turn their students feel more comfortable talking to them about their problems rather than the school therapist. For educators, it’s important to know that there are limitations to the counseling-type conversations one may have with a youth, while at the same time understanding that it’s important to have some basic counseling skills to help facilitate the authentic relationship. Thus, these basic skills presented here are applicable to anyone who works with youth; from the math teacher who has a connection with a particular group of students, to the licensed therapist who sees youth in individual and/or group psychotherapy. https://theanxiety.clinic/

Counselling for Family

Image
Family counselling and therapy usually work with  cognitive behavioural therapy , systemic and solution-focused therapy, to take a closer look at the thoughts of all family members. The aim is to clarify what the problems are and then focus on solutions, rather than delving into the origins of the problems. This can help with self-reflection for the individuals and increase self-awareness of their family’s stage in its life cycle. https://theanxiety.clinic/cognitive-behavioural-therapy/

Counselling for Career Issues

Image
Career counseling , also known as career guidance, is counseling designed to help with choosing, changing, or leaving a career and is available at any stage in life. One's career is often one of the most important aspects of adulthood, and embarking on a new career, whether for the first time, the second time, or any time thereafter, can be a stressful event, especially when economic difficulties such as recession are a factor. A career counselor can help by outlining and discussing one's potential career options . https://theanxiety.clinic/

Marriage Counselling

Image
Marriage counseling  or marital therapy involves pre-marital and post-marital counseling. Pre-marital counseling is good investment for couples who are serious about preparing for a lifelong marriage. It helps young adults develop healthy attitudes and skills, to interact with their prospective partners respectfully and in appropriate ways; so that they can develop and maintain meaningful and fulfilling relationship. It makes them realise the importance of marriage and the responsibility to be taken after marriage. Marriage is all about acceptance and unconditional love and trust. It is to understand each other and know the worth of relationship. Thus, pre-marital counseling is important to make a person mature enough to take up this responsibility. https://theanxiety.clinic/

Individual Psychotherapy

Image
Individual therapy is one type of psychotherapy in which a trained professional helps a single person work through personal issues they have been facing. It is an effective treatment for a variety of emotional difficulties and mental illnesses. Also known as talk therapy, it can help improve or control symptoms that influence an individual’s well-being. How does Individual Therapy Work? Therapy sessions  give individuals the opportunity to confidentially talk through problems or situations with a trained professional. It does not necessarily make problems disappear, but it equips individuals with the tools needed to cope with them more appropriately. https://theanxiety.clinic/

Therapy for Cancer & Illness

Image
Cancer isn’t always a one-time event. Cancer can be closely watched and treated, but sometimes it never completely goes away. It can be a chronic (ongoing) illness, much like diabetes or heart disease. This is often the case with certain cancer types, such as   ovarian cancer , chronic   leukemias , and some   lymphomas . Sometimes cancers that have spread or have come back in other parts of the body, like metastatic   breast   or   prostate cancer , also become chronic cancers. The cancer may be controlled with treatment, meaning it might seem to go away or stay the same. The cancer may not grow or spread as long as you’re getting treatment. Sometimes when treatment shrinks the cancer, you can take a break until the cancer starts to grow again. But in either of these cases the cancer is still there – it doesn’t go away and stay away – it’s not cured.  Living with cancer is different from living after cancer. And it’s becoming more common every day. https://theanxiety.clinic/cancerilln

Therapy for Addiction

Image
A ddiction and mental health disorders has come a long way in the 21st century. Numerous studies and clinical trials have demonstrated the  effectiveness of different therapy techniques  for treating a variety of ailments, including depression, PTSD, drug addiction, and more . For patients with mental health and substance use disorders, therapy is critical for improving their emotional and physical health and avoiding a relapse of either a mental health disorder, drug addiction, or both. Despite the proven effectiveness of the three major therapy types – cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and family-based therapy – patients still face many  barriers to therapy and treatment . https://theanxiety.clinic/therapy-intensives/

Mood Disorder Psychotherapy

Image
A mood disorder is a mental health problem that primarily affects a person’s emotional state. It is a disorder in which a person experiences long periods of extreme happiness, extreme sadness, or both. It is normal for someone’s mood to change, depending on the situation. However, to be diagnosed with a mood disorder, symptoms must be present for several weeks or longer. Mood disorders can cause changes in your behavior and can affect your ability to deal with routine activities. How are mood disorders treated? Treatment will depend on the specific illness and symptoms that are present. Usually, therapy involves a combination of medication and psychotherapy (also called “talk therapy”). Therapy sessions may be conducted by a psychologist, psychiatrist , or other health professional. https://theanxiety.clinic/

Anger Management Psychologist

Image
Everyone grows angry from time to time. Although anger is a normal emotion that it is perfectly healthy to experience, holding onto anger for too long can create an emotional barrier that prevents individuals from engaging happily in many areas of life. When an individual experiences difficulty moving past feelings of anger and finds that being angry is interfering with the ability to maintain healthy relationships, employment, or personal happiness, then anger management therapy may be a useful tool. More specifically, when anger with a single person, situation, or idea starts to create tension and unhappiness in other areas of a person’s life, then it is often helpful to engage in some sort of anger management therapy to learn how to quell that emotional response. https://theanxiety.clinic/
