Infertility Counselling

When a couple is in need of infertility counselling services, medical staff and couples are left to determine the timing and type of counselling most appropriate for their situation. Typically, providing psychosocial care and psychological help for infertile couples or individuals is seen as a stepwise process.

Patient-centered care can be conceptualized in two parts – first, information gathering and analysis as well as implications and decision-making counselling. Infertility counselling can cover three areas including implications and decision-making counselling, as well as support counselling and short-term crisis counselling. Psychotherapy primarily includes therapeutic counselling, but can also include crisis counselling that is long-term in nature.
